I have been home for a few weeks now and I still cannot properly put into words how this trip impacted me. When you hear people say the word “life changing”, you think “that’s awesome, good for you.” Or at least I did…until now. Today, I truly understand the meaning of that word. This trip was every bit of “life changing” and so much more. I went to Uganda thinking I would be the hero and the one to impact their lives but, it was quite the opposite. They quickly became my hero’s and will FOREVER impact my life.
Thankful for my wonderful team that started out as strangers and quickly became family and FOREVER friends. We saw around 500 patients and treated illnesses such as hypertension, worms, aids, cervical cancer, ulcers, malaria, uti’s, pain, orthopedic injuries and so much more.
What struck me the most was these people have nothing. They live in mud huts with no electricity and have various Illnesses yet, they were SO happy, content and ALWAYS praising God. Talk about a humbling experience and a major gut punch. Now that I’m back, I will strive to be more like them.
Thank you to Upward Twist for giving me the opportunity to go. Not only did they fund part of my trip but prayed for me while I was there. I would not have been able to go if it had not been for the support of Angelle and her team. From the bottom of my heart, I cannot thank you enough.
Uganda, I left a piece of my heart there. You forever changed me!!! And don’t worry…I will be back!
