They’re barefoot, run wild and free, but also probably don’t eat nearly enough, live in horrible conditions and are exposed to all kinds of disease, sickness and hardship at a very young age. They are village kids. We have spent a couple of days hosting clinics in villages this week and today’s was very remote, rural and impoverished. I’ve been learning a lot on this trip. Most importantly I’ve seen what the love of Jesus does in the most desperate situations. We are working with an awesome team of believers who work so hard to help others and reach their community with the love of Christ.

Today I noticed some things. Like how desperate people act and how people age quickly here. I noticed how elders are respected and what can happen when you don’t have medical care when you fracture your humerus. That was a wild one: the bones were healed together at a 90 degree angle. I saw what it means when it takes a village to raise a child. Community is so huge here. I saw so many young, teenage mothers and so many little, tiny babies. I made a cool connection with a lady named Loveness. She didn’t speak English, but I pointed to myself and said my name and she pointed to herself and said her name. Then she wanted to take a selfie and said a lot to me and bowed and folded her hands in what I was assuming was a “thank you.” It was cool. I got to hold a lot of babies and take a pic with a huge group of kids. Life here just seems like a vicious circle of poverty and despair, but there’s also a lot of joy and cool things too. Jesus can bring that joy and we’re part of showing that to people.
