Hallelujah!
How good is it to sing to our God,
For praise is pleasant and lovely.
The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem;
He gathers Israel’s exiled people.
He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds.
He counts the number of the stars;
He gives names to all of them.
Our Lord is great, vast in power;
His understanding is infinite.
The Lord helps the afflicted
But brings the wicked to the ground.
Psalm 147:1-6

And, boy, did I see God heal the brokenhearted this week. But, this trip was unique because in all transparency one of those people was me.

The last two weeks leading up the trip, I had been so discouraged and burned out. But, while providing medical care to others, God was so tender and kind in binding my spiritual wounds. He was breaking off chains that I didn’t realize were weighing me down. He reminded me that He works beyond my capabilities with Sunday night sermon about Peter walking on water. And, He reminded me how He uses brokenness to magnify His glory through Sunday morning sermon about Jesus healing the man who was born blind. My love for medicine and most importantly the gospel was renewed.

Jesus restored the joy of my salvation, and I was able to walk in light of the Living Hope. The Holy Spirit led me to share the gospel with someone that week (and truly I can’t remember the last time I did that). I could literally see her eyes become brighter as I shared about God’s love and forgiveness. I saw her soul go from death to life right in front of me, and it was the most beautiful thing.

And, oh man, I can’t even begin to share about how God used the community of believers on the trip to encourage my soul. I praise God for old and new friends I served alongside with. We served in three different churches, and we cared for 1200 patients who all heard the gospel in Spanish.

Thank you everyone who prayed and donated. Thank you to my community at home who has been in my corner supporting me. Thank you to Upward Twist for trusting me to provide medical care for the Kingdom. Thank you MMO for this beautiful opportunity.

May the Lord continue to water the seeds that were planted. Wow, do we serve a great God!
