We have to be broken first in order to understand that it was always Jesus and His Grace only. In Guatemala, God reminded me gently during those moments of brokenness, that He was just asking me to show up! He knew my weaknesses and limitations. He knew even in my moments of weakness, that He would take those broken pieces within me and use it for His glory.
Jesus was inviting me to encounter Him and watch expectantly for Him to work.
There were a lot of hard things I witnessed. I found abscesses with several children across the board that had rampant decay throughout. I applied fluoride varnish on every child until I ran out. My main role was in educating the patients along with the cleanings. Every patient that came through the doors was prayed over and had the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. A pharmacy student led a little girl to Christ in the dental clinic. By the end of the week, the Guatemalan dentist who only spoke Spanish, asked me if I would share the Gospel with her because she wanted to be able to share it with those who came through the doors. Our God is SO GOOD! This was one of my greatest joys as all week I had been building a with her. Before I left, I point blank asked her if she had ever accepted Jesus Christ into her life and she said “Yes.” Praising God for being so faithful and seeing many come to know Jesus as their personal savior! Thank you Upward Twist for your constant prayers and your support of me. You were such an important part of this journey and through you, we now have more brothers and sisters that will one day be with Jesus forever! The Gospel changes EVERYTHING. Jesus never fails!
